FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS

D. The Resurrection of Jesus

  1. What has the resurrection of Jesus meant to the human race?

  Scripture:

"Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." Romans 4:25

  2. This new life is ours in Christ Jesus.

  Scripture:

"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth; but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." I Corinthians 13:4-8

  3. The resurrection gives birth.

     a. God imparts His nature to us, and we come unto Him, He lives in us; our body is His temple.
     b. This new creation in Christ can stand in God's presence without guilt.

 4. No longer live in fear.

     a. Because of the resurrection we no longer have to live in fear; we no longer dread death.

     b. The resurrection of Jesus meant Satan was defeated and we were given power over him.

     c. It was a wonderful day when Jesus was born

     d. It was a greater day when He arose from the dead.

     e. Now we are more than conquerors.

  Scripture:

"For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world; even our faith.
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God:" I John 4:4,5

  5. The resurrection makes us overcomers.

     a. Remember the blood was for God. Jesus said, "In my Father's house there are many dwelling places." Our life starts on earth and translates us into heaven.

     b. Jesus is now our example; "As I was sent, so send I you." Christ lives in us; we are overcomers.

     c. Jesus arose to the full stature of His Godhead in the presence of the enemy.

     d. He threw off principalities and powers and made a show of them openly.

     e. Then, taking the first fruits, He arose.

  Scripture:

"I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." Revelation 1:18
"And the angel answered and said unto the women; Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified."
He is not here, for he is risen, as he said, Come, see the place where the Lord lay." Matthew 28:5,6

  6. The tomb was empty.

     a. Jesus is Lord over sin, sickness, death, and Satan.

     b. He died as the Lamb of God; He arose as our High Priest; God's victorious son.

     c. He met Father's demands; paid the price for us.

     d. He took His own blood into the heavenly Holy of Holies for us.

     e. Now God can give eternal life to all who call upon His name.

     f. Jesus is the head of a new creation.

     g. We now are partakers of the divine nature.

     h. We are now in God's family.

  7. Out of the tomb came light.

     a. Out of the tomb came the Light of the world.

     b. Christians are now a new creation, man and God are joined in spirit.

     c. There were giants upon the earth; now there are spiritual giants on this earth.

     d. Satan, though he tried to defeat Jesus, Jesus is alive and well with millions of people on earth serving Him.

  8. The beginning of the New Testament Church.

     a. They heard the rushing wind.

     b. They saw the tongues of fire.

     c. They spoke in tongues.

     d. They did not know they had been reborn.

     e. They did not know they were new creations.

     f. They did not know they were made righteous

  9. Baptized in the Holy Spirit.

     a. They had received the Holy Spirit in their lives.

     b. Born into God's family, they had the nature of God within them.

     c. They were made kings and priests unto God, and given the keys of the kingdom.

     e. All of this because Jesus arose from the dead.
